As I am writing this column, our Club kitchen will be closing in a couple of days for the renovation to our Club facilities. In place of our kitchen facility, a portion of the Kainalu Room on the second floor of our building will be utilized in part for a food preparation area. Cold food items such as cold sandwiches and salads will be prepared in this area. The Food & Beverage Office and the POS Office will also be relocated to the Kainalu Room.
A food truck on rental from the Honolulu Burg- er Company, will be located out front adjoining the walkway leading into the Lodge/Club facility. Hot food items will be prepared in the truck and the items prepared will be brought into the Club via a food runner/server. A re- duced lounge menu will be offered. Food service will be a little slower due to the fact that two cooks working in the truck can not produce food as fast as a full food service staff in a full size kitchen. So I hope our members will be a little patient. Our staff working in the truck as well as our servers will be moving food orders as fast as possible.
Beverage service from our bar will remain in operation, with only draught beer in question. If draught beer will not be available, beer in bottles and cans will be available. No outside liquor is allowed to be consumed in our parking lot or brought into the Club premises for consumption.
Members interested in booking a banquet at the Club can still contact Club Management. Banquet events, large or small will be held in the Lodge Room. Food for banquets during the renovation period may be provided by an outside licensed catering company. Our staff will work the event and all liquor and soft drinks will still be purchased from the Club,
Again, I would like to remind members while on the Club premises during the renovations, to be careful of barriers and any construction equipment or materials within or immediately outside the Lodge/Club facilities for your safety. Please observe all House Rules. Proper attire and footwear should be worn at all times due to the construction. A reminder that the Front Desk will be relocated across the lobby from its present location during the renovation period. Members and guests will follow the same procedures when entering the Lodge/Club.
At the upcoming House Committee meeting we will be discussing how the renovations will affect the upcoming holiday season. Thanks- giving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Our discussions will be related to food and beverage service as well as entertainment. We will see what our options are due to our limited food service capability. We will notify members via the next Aloha Elk newsletter and the bulletin board in the lobby.
Your House Committee and the Club Management will be updating our members as to any changes in the Club operations as we go forward with the renovations. Everyone’s patience will be appreciated during this period.
