Grand Exalted Ruler Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the U.S.A.
David was born and raised in the Village of Port Henry, a hamlet in the town of Moriah, New York. Following his high school graduation, he completed a four-year New York State accredited Industrial Electronics Apprenticeship training course. David spent his thirty-seven-year career in industrial electronics and safety and retired from International Paper in Ticonderoga, New York, in 1999.
David was initiated into Whitehall, New York, Lodge #1491 in February 1975. He transferred his membership to Ticonderoga, N.Y., Lodge in 1978 after moving to Crown Point. He served in several officer and committee positions, proceeded through the chairs, and served as Exalted Ruler in 1989. David served the New York State Elks Association as V.P. in 1990-91 and various state committees; District Deputy in 1994-95 and served as New York State President in 2009-10; and member of the Board of Grand Lodge Trustees 2006-10.
David has served as a member or officer in several conservation organizations and has served on the hospital board, school board and board of fire commissioners. He is also a member of the volunteer fire company, Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus, Jaycees, US Coast Guard auxiliary, and founding member of the Department of Homeland Security. In 2008, David was awarded President Bush s USA Freedom Corps Volunteer Service Award.
David and his wife Penny have four children and eight grandchildren. David and Penny are active in their church, Sacred Heart Church of Crown Point, NY, where Penny serves as a member of the choir and David serves as choir accompanist. David believes strongly that Elks Give From the Heart because Elkdom, like patriotism, is in the hearts and souls of our members.by
