You may have heard melodic sounds coming from the farthest corner of our Club and lately in the renovated Lounge. Some of you have sat in and enjoyed those sounds on a given Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening. Those sounds are not just sounds of the revival of live music, but the signaling of a whole new era of entertainment at our Elks Club.
In the midst of our once-in-our-lifetime renovation, much has been going on behind the scenes to prepare for the reopening of the Club. Under ER Byron Apo, the formation of the Elks Lodge 616 Entertainment Committee (EEC616) was established. This new committee is currently made up of members George Del Barrio, Brandon Eshenour, and yours truly as Chair.
Entertainment is more than just music and this new committee is developing a new comprehensive strategy to bring the best entertainment value to our Elks Club for the membership. As with the new look that accompanies our renovation, there will be a new approach to- ward entertainment and we are very excited about it.
This strategy includes an official Elks 616 entertainment email address, which is listed at the top of this message. With the new email channel, we can more efficiently communicate with Elks 616 members as well as the entertainment community. We are looking for constructive feedback from our membership, so do drop us a line. The Lodge is also mapping out a better website that will have live calendars that will keep members up to date.
Comprehensive entertainment surveys are forthcoming and will help us build new and better entertainment programming in the Club and will allow us to keep up with the pulse of the membership. Please be sure to fill it out and submit the surveys when they become available.
We are excited about the creation of a new program called Talent Acquisition Program or TAP. By inviting lesser known performers to showcase their talent during our renovation, we “tapped” into a whole new local talent pool. This approach was well received by members and musicians. TAP is designed to do three things: One, it keeps things fresh by developing new talent that will help us maintain a best-value talent pool. Two, it keeps us in touch with the community. And three, it will help us to keep entertainment costs in check, costs that have generally run at operational deficits.
In the coming months, the EEC616 will work to fully develop and implement its strategy. As we lay the ground- work for this new approach, we ask that you be patient as we work through a process that will bring positive changes. This new strategy will be fluid and responsive, reflecting our goal of clear communication with the membership so that we can provide the best entertainment value. Please visit the website frequently to keep up to date with events in the club. Until next time…
Stay tuned, stay engaged!
