Visit five of the vendors, you’ll have your money back!
Knots, lashings and lots of laughter have been a lesson at the past few troop meetings as they practice building a rope bridge for an upcoming ceremony – Order of Light/Bridging. Testing the strength of the lashings means someone walking across the bridge. Being that person, tests your confidence in yourself and the team and in their abilities. Laughter and cheers occur as the task is refined, accomplished and you can breathe again. Not all trips across are successful, until the lashings are right.
The Order of Light ceremony transitions Cub Scouts into Boy Scouts and crossing the rope bridge takes much inner strength and faith in your fellow scouts who are there to make sure you don’t fall. The support offered in incredible. If you have an opportunity to attend this ceremony, take it. Ask the Scouts when the Order of Light Ceremony will take place this year.
“Start your Engines” works for NASCAR, but Soap Box Derby cars use momentum (gravity) for power. The Cub Scouts cheered each other on as their hand-made cars zipped down the track in the Kailanu Room this past month. If you missed it, ask them to see the photos or videos. The variety of shapes, colors and styles of the cars staggers the mind, as the Cub Scouts get very creative in their designs. More Cub Scouts, ages 5 and up, are always welcome. More Cubs are VERY welcome … ask the Lodge Secretary for the contact information.
Our Scouting Committee welcome’s Calvin Hara to its ranks. He brings a wealth of scouting experience to the committee and as a first year Elk member I applaud his desire to assist. We will complement each other well. Welcome Aboard!
