If you have visited the Lodge/Club lately, you are able to see through openings in the construction barriers to see the progress that has been made on the renovation project. The Front Desk area and the exterior of the Locker Rooms/Spa look terrific.
By the time you read this newsletter, the bar operation will have been temporarily moved into the Dining Room area, while the flooring and ceiling work in the main bar area is completed.
Meanwhile, your House Committee has been working on recruiting a couple of key manage- ment positions in preparation for the opening of the Club. After interviewing applicants for the Chef/Kitchen Manager’s position, Kirby Wong was selected. Chef Wong brings with him approximately 46 years experience in
the food industry, ranging from banquets, line cook, restaurant management duties in hotels, restaurants, private fitness and country clubs. He last worked at the Prince Waikiki Hotel for approximately 10 years. He started there as Sous Chef and was the Executive Chef for the last 5 years at the hotel. During his stint as Executive Chef at the Prince Waikiki Hotel, he also dealt with providing a food and beverage operation while the hotel was undergoing a major renovation. Prior to his employment at the Prince Waikiki Hotel, Chef Wong worked at the Ilikai Hotel for approximately 18 years as Sous Chef.
As of this writing, the House Committee is also recruiting for an additional Assistant Manager’s position to supplement our current management team. There are some exciting things in the technology field that are being reviewed and processed, that will assist our Club management as well as providing members easier access to a variety of things such as communicating Club events to members as well as easier access in making reservations for dining and other events. A lot of volunteers, committee members, Trustees, Lodge/Club staff are working to modernize how the Lodge and Club communicates with our members. A Mahalo to all of those volunteers working behind the scenes. Can’t wait till it all comes together!
Note: Commencing in May, House Commit- tee meetings will be held on the 2nd Monday, of each month thereafter, at 5:30 pm.
