Americanism Focuses on Reality
It was a tragedy on August 6, 2011, when 30 of our troops died in Afghanistan. At Lodge # 616 our Flag was lowered for a week of commemoration in memory of those fine and courageous Americans who gave their lives in duty to the United States of America.
We, who live in Hawaii, are especially grateful for the safe return our own National Guard Troops. We are relieved to have them home again. Hawaii s connection in this season of National Mourning is the reality that many of our Hawaii citizens have worked closely with those who have recently fallen in battle.
During Patriotic Week, Our Flag will again be lowered from September 11, 2011, to September 18, 2011, for all those Americans who have died in the line of duty, especially those first responder citizens and residents of New York whose lives were abruptly traumatized by the devastation of the Twin Towers that occurred 10 years ago on September 11, 2001.
Americans will prevail because of our devotion to our ideals and the sacrifices of these heroic and dedicated citizens. Our flag is a cherished Icon of our unity and strength of endurance as we consider again that it is possible that war can bring heartache to our own shores.
Therefore, we are acutely aware and increasingly grateful for the price paid by these fellow citizens and we are again ensured of our right to lift the torch of Freedom and do the work of Justice for all.
God Bless America.
