Aloha fellow Elks! Here’s news about the 2019 Elks scholarships. The Most Valuable Student and the Legacy Award are for high school seniors and are awarded through the Elks National Foundation (ENF). The application period for Most Valuable Student opens August 15, 2018 and closes November 15, 2018. The application period for the Legacy Award for children and grand- children of Elks in good standing opens September 15, 2018 and closes on February 1, 2019. Applications are avail- able on the Elks website https://www.elks.org/scholars/default.cfm?m=enf.
Two other scholarships are awarded through the California-Hawaii Elks Association (CHEA). One is a grant for vocational or occupational training and is open to any United States citizen who requires training or retraining to compete in the workplace. Applications can be made through www. chea-elks.org/youth-activities/scholar- ships and are accepted throughout the year. The other scholarship is for under- graduate studies for Students with Dis- abilities. The application will be ready for download after November 15, 2018.
In 2018, seven young people received scholarships under the banner of Honolulu Elks #616–Darrell Huang, Brianna Tam, Ethan Ho, Caele Manley, Rachel Handlin, Cassandra Osaki and Kevin Moniz. Congratulations!
