Aloha Brothers & Sisters,
1. If you would like to donate hygiene or clothing items that you would otherwise take to the Thrift Shop for homeless veterans, these items are in high demand; toiletries, tooth brushes, tooth paste, soap, and other miscellaneous hygiene items. Clothing, sandals etc…are also welcome. You can drop off these “packed” items at the lodge. Please let the lodge secretary know in advance so he is prepared to take them. The lodge will drop these items of at the VA at Tripler Medical Center who will in turn distribute these items to those Vets in need. If you want to call the VA and ask what exact items you could donate, call Kurtis Chang at 433-0357 or Courtney Nunokawa of the Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program at 208-9083 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have the right Identification to enter Tripler Medical Center, items can be dropped at the “E” Wing of the VA Medical Center (459 Patterson Rd) aboard the facility.
2. We would like to feature some of our veteran members in our news letter to show recognition and their service to country. If you are a veteran, spouse of a veteran or family of a veteran and would like to take this opportunity to be featured in the club’s monthly news letter (one per month), simply send me a scanned or a digital photo of the service member in uniform annotate time and place of the photo, branch of service and that photo will appear in Elks Vet Corner. So far there have been no takers!!! Let’s see which branch of service will step forward first! To make editorial deadline, we must receive your “digitized” photo before the 5th of the month. If you have any formatting questions please email me at elkslodge616USMC@gmail.com and I will assist you in getting your photo formatted.
