ALOHA Elks 616!!!
Looking back Kumulokahi Canoe Club had a momentous season last year. We canoe surfed 12’ Makaha, had a super successful Halloween Fundraiser, blessed a brand new Bradley canoe, won a pre-distance race at Ke’ehi Lagoon, raced the first ever all women’s crew, won a distance race at He’eia, won the Pailolo Challenge, improved 30 spots in the Molokai Hoe, and raced successfully in our first Na Opio season!
Once the dust settled, and we realized that we had 90 paddlers signed up for the Summer Hui Wa’a Regatta Season, and it was time to focus our energy on maintaining our precious fleet of canoes.
The Ka’awiwi is refinished and gets a fresh coat of bottom paint and Na ama & iako are sanded, repaired, and refinished. We take pride in representing Elks Lodge 616 and its members and like anything else it takes the same pride to take care of your canoes of which we are blessed to be paddling.
We would like to congratulate Keiki Coach Guy Hicks for being awarded “Elk of the Year” for his contributions to jump start our keiki paddling program. His sweat equity could literally fill 55 gallon drums, and we are so grateful for his dedication.
Also, congratulations to Malia Winter for representing Elks 616 in this years’ Rell Sunn Menehune Contest!!! Malia Winter 3rd Place body boarding/ Rell Sunn Menehune Surf Contest
